You’d be surprised how often we have people bring photos into the store as their means to choose a jacket size for their dogs. We LOVE seeing your dog photos, but it’s impossible to make an accurate enough guess on size using them! We need measurements – the more accurate the better!!
Three Measurements, Just Incase
If you bring these three measurements with you to the pet store, there’s a pretty good chance they can use one or more of them!
- Back: Measure from the base of neck to the base of the tail.
- Neck: Measure around the widest part of your dog’s neck.
- Girth/Chest: Measure around the widest part of the chest, behind your dog’s front legs.
HOT TIP! If you don’t have a fabric measuring tape, use a strip of dental floss and measure the floss with a ruler!
See the video below to learn how to take accurate measurements!
If Your Dog is Friendly, Bring Them in With You!
No matter how well you measure your dog, the measurements alone might not be enough. They’re a very good start, and they’ll likely work 90% of the time, but some dogs are like ME and just have an irregular shape. (I can’t buy ANY clothing online)
Another bonus to bringing your pup is that the store employees likely can fit the coat for you, and make sure it’s sized correctly.
