Do you ever buy those really delicious freeze dried meat treats for your pups, only to have about a cup of “powder” left in the bottom of your bag? I recently got a package of Nature’s Variety Instinct Raw Freeze Dried Meal/Mixers (I use these as treats) and there were a lot of crumbs in the bottom. Instead of getting grumpy (this is NOT normal, it was a one off) I decided to find a way to make use of them! So, I created a Dehydrated meat “spice” to add to my dogs’ food!

Here’s how I did it:

First I found some empty spice jars at the looney/dollar store for super cheap! I used a chopstick to enlarge the holes a little so that the powder would easily shake out of them. You can use a fork, skewer, or scissors to the same.

Next, I poured all the crumbs/powder from the treat bag into a small cup to make it easier to pour into the funnel.

Then, I poured the powder into the spice jar using a funnel to try and prevent spilling. As I was holding a camera and pouring at the same time, I spilled some. Sure did…

Finally, I popped the plastic hold cover back onto the jar, affixed the lid, and then used some old jar labels I had to label the protein source since I have food sensitivities in my house. You can use printer labels or anything else sticky that you can write on.

And now I have a yummy “spice” to add to my dogs’ food anytime I want to “spice” things up! You can add this to any kind of food to make it special. The dogs love it!
